Making the Right Turn: A Guide About Improving Transition Outcomes for Youth Involved in the...
About
“In America there is an expectation that youth will grow up, get an education, develop skills, get a job, become economically self-sufficient and contribute to society. However, for many youth today, there are enormous challenges to achieving this goal. There is a growing recognition that youth involved in the juvenile corrections system represent one of the most vulnerable populations in our country” (p.iv).
The purpose of this guide “is to help [workforce development] professionals involved with a wide array of youth-serving organizations acquire an understanding of youth in the juvenile corrections system, how and why they become involved in the juvenile corrections system, and some of the critical challenges that stand in the way of their successful transition into adulthood and economic self-sufficiency” (p.1).
